Nearly two-thirds (65%) of U.S. employees report they are either "happy" or "very happy" with their current postion, according to the Kelly Global Workforce Index.
The U.S. scores were slightly behind those of the nations with the happiest workers: Denmark (74%) and Mexico and Sweden (both 71%).
"American managers are doing a good job to motivate and engage their workers," says George Corona, senior vice president of Kelly Services, based in Troy, MI. "The challenge is to continually provide interesting and meaningful work, as well as opportunities for employees to learn and more fully develop their own skills."
U.S. workers said employers were best at "delegating effectively" and weakest at "communication skills."
According to the responses of 100 executives, the top ways companies are improving on-the-job relations between younger and older workers are:
